Orchestra comes to Wilkes-Barre

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) will be coming to the area in a couple of weeks.

Hallmark will be bringing the orchestra to town. To celebrate its 20th season, the TSO will be recreating its treasured tale ‘The Ghosts of Christmas Eve’. It will be done in the orchestra’s flamboyant audio visual manner.

The original production was created for television and narrated by Ossie Davis. The story centers on a girl who has run away from home. She finds a haven in an abandoned theater and falls asleep in one of the theater’s seats. In a dream, she meets a kindly older man who takes her on a musical journey.

The girl’s experience is highlighted with renderings of both traditional and original carols and musical numbers by a full rock band. Rock instruments and rhythms are complemented by psychedelic lighting.

To date TSO has sold over 10 million albums. The performance has travelled to 80 plus cities and has entertained over 100 million people. Ticket sales have amounted to $280m, and $11m of this total has been donated to charity.

Those of us here in Kingston will want to mark our calendars for November 25. The event will be at the Mohegan Sun Arena, 255 Highland Park Blvd in Wilkes-Barre. Shows will be at 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm on the day.
