Hanover pizzeria expands operations

After operating a popular restaurant for more than 20 years, Hanover pizzeria-owners are branching out and opening a second location at the end of January.

Located in a 4,500 square foot building, Virgilio’s Ristorante and Pizzeria will have seating for more than 120 customers. The building was recently renovated to create a restaurant side and a pizzeria side. The pizzeria portion will have seating for about 40 people, while the restaurant will seat 82 at booths and tables.

The restaurant’s menu will include a selection of pasta and seafood dishes, calzones, and sandwiches. A wide selection of pizzas will be available, including classic round pizzas, specialty pies, and stuffed options. The new eatery will also offer a kids’ menu and dessert. Virgilio’s could use printing services to produce copies of its menu to distribute throughout the area.

Roberto and Joanne Virgilio, the owners, also own Alfredo’s Pizza, which they opened in 1992. Roberto trained as a chef in Italy before moving to the U.S. in 1981. The couple is opening Virgilio’s with friends Barbara and Barry Foulk. Running the new restaurant will be a family affair, as the Virgilios’ two daughters will be working there as servers.

The new restaurant intends to focus heavily on its desserts. Desserts can be customized, if a customer calls ahead, with phrases such as “Happy Birthday” and “Will You Marry Me?” Virgilio’s is also giving customers who propose in the dining area on Valentine’s Day a souvenir ‘diamond’ ring.

Once it opens at the end of the month, Virgilio’s will be open seven days a week, from 10:30 am to 10:00 pm and until 11:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
