Hanover optometry practice eyes the future
September 10, 2013 by Sarah
Hemler Family Eye Care has been providing patients in Hanover with eye examinations and glasses since 2004, and it is celebrating its upcoming 10th anniversary by hiring a new doctor.
The practice is run by Dr. Edward A. Hemler O.D and Ms. Donna Hemler. Ms. Hemler acts as the practice manager while Dr. Hemler sees patients. Since opening nearly 10 years ago, the Hemlers have seen more than 10,000 patients.
Part of the reason for the new hire is to open more appointment times for patients. Currently, the office books patients for appointments a month or two in advance. The new optometrist, Dr. Katie Hertz, will help reduce the time between appointments considerably, say the Hemlers. Dr. Hertz recently completed a residency at the Baltimore Veterans Administration Hospital, during which she focused on eye diseases.
The eye care center could invest in digital business cards to welcome Dr. Hertz to the practice and to help her grow her patient base. She will be providing care to patients who need regular examinations and updated prescriptions for glasses, and will also offer treatment for patients with glaucoma, or those who have eye diseases connected to conditions like diabetes.
The office is open five days a week, by appointment. Hours on Monday and Wednesday are from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. The office is open from noon until 8:00 pm Tuesday and Thursday to accommodate people’s work schedules. On Fridays, the practice is open for a half day, and the doctors also occasionally see patients on Saturday.
