Holiday fare comes to Easton State Theater

The winter holidays mean certain stories for many people and the ‘Nutcracker’ ballet is a holiday must-see for many families, as is a staging of Charles Dickens’ classic ‘A Christmas Carol’. This holiday season, families in Easton will have an opportunity to catch both.

The Moscow Ballet has been touring the U.S. for 20 years. This year, it will bring the Nutcracker to life at the State Theater in Easton. The Moscow Ballet version of the classic ballet introduces two new characters to the mix – Father Christmas and the Snow Maiden, his granddaughter. The production also features puppets and hand-painted sets. The ballet is intended for all ages but infants are not permitted in the theater.

After the Nutcracker, the State Theater will present a touring version of A Christmas Carol. The production by the Nebraska Theater Caravan is a musical version of the classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge’s Christmas Eve encounter with a trio of ghost who teach him the error of his ways. It will feature well-known Christmas carols, such as ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’ and ‘Away in a Manger’. The Nebraska Theater Caravan has been touring A Christmas Carol since 1979.

Easton postcard printing could be used to help spread the word of the two shows to the public. Postcards can be left at local businesses so that interested people can pick them up to get information on either show.

The Nutcracker will be performed at 7:30 pm tomorrow, December 6. Tickets start at $33 for children under 10. Regular admission is $43. A Christmas Carol will be performed next week, on December 13 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $45 and $50.
