Mercer Museum opens their doors
December 4, 2011 by James
The Mercer Museum Holiday Open House will take place on December 13 from 7-9 pm. Admission is free. What better way to get the kids excited about Christmas in Doylestown than to take them to the museum?
The evening will start off with a musical parade featuring Santa Claus which will end at the Log House. The Log House will be Santa’s house for that night. He will listen to what the kids want for Christmas, he will pose for pictures and he will give everyone he talks to a keepsake ornament.
The Central Court, Elkins Gallery and the Great Hall will feature musical performances by high school bands and local choirs, the Mercer Carolers and various other musical acts. In the Learning Center you can help make a decoration that will be featured in the upcoming exhibit Under the Tree: A Century of Holiday Trees and Toys with will be running at the museum from December 17-January 31. In the Wagon Shed of the Log House you can sing along with the Mercer Carolers and to round off the night a special “burning of the greens” will take place on the Pine Street Lawn.
To make the evening memorable to everyone in the family you could have the entire family pose for a picture with Santa and then use that as the family Christmas card for next year. Doylestown printing companies can turn that photo of Santa with the family into a Christmas card you can send to all of your friends and relatives.
