Red Cross offers preparedness classes in Butler
April 4, 2013 by James
During the month of April, Butler county will have the opportunity to learn CPR and first aid from the American Red Cross (ARC).
The ARC will hold three in-person courses during April, as well as several courses that people can take online as part of their own schedule at home. On April 6, the organization will hold Babysitters’ Training, covering the basics of child care and first aid. It also teaches participants how to establish a babysitting business and how to protect themselves and their charges.
The Babysitters’ Training course is recommended for younger teenagers and pre-teenagers, between the ages of 11 and 15. A parent or guardian needs to bring the student to the course to sign her or him in and to provide an emergency contact number. The training course starts at 9:00 am on Saturday and will go until 4:00 pm. The cost is $85 and participants should bring a lunch to the training.
Butler printing services can help the ARC advertise the other workshops and training courses during the month. On April 20, the organization will offer an Adult CPR course and a combined CPR/First Aid course. The former starts at 9:00 am and lasts for three hours, while the latter also starts at 9:00 am but lasts until 4:00 pm. At the end of the courses, the students will receive a CPR certificate that is valid for two years. The CPR class is $70 and the CPR/First Aid course is $110.
The courses will be held at the offices of the Butler Red Cross chapter, 312 Mercer Street.
