This fall, residents of Butler will have several options when it comes to welcoming the harvest season, as two local farms celebrate the arrival of the season with pumpkin-themed festivals.

Cheeseman Farm, in Portersville will hold its annual Pumpkin Festival on Saturdays and Sundays until October 27, while for All Family Farms, on Hoon Road in Butler, will hold its yearly Pumpkinpalooza Fall Festival on the same days throughout the month.

The highlights of the Pumpkin Festival include a hayride out to the pumpkin patch. Once there, families can pick out their pumpkins for carving, decorating, or baking. Along with pumpkin picking and hayrides, the festival will also feature a petting zoo and hay jump. Fall favorites will be for sale, including decorative items like Indian corn and hay bales, and edibles such as apple butter. The farm could use poster printing to advertise its festival and spread the word.

Pumpkinpalooza will also feature a hayride to the pumpkin patch, where people can pick out their own gourd to use for carving or other decoration. The festival will also feature several kid-friendly activities such as pumpkin bowling, a corn maze, and a corn slide. Kids and parents can decorate their pumpkins at a painting booth.

The Pumpkin Festival is from noon until 5:00 pm on the weekends, while Pumpkinpalooza is from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm. Hayrides at the Pumpkin Festival are $4 per person and free for kids under two years of age. Pumpkins at Cheeseman Farm are 40ยข for a pound.
