Pittsburgh Philharmonic heads to Butler

The month of October promises to be full of exciting musical and theatrical performances at Butler County Community College.

On October 26, the Pittsburgh Philharmonic will perform ‘Once Upon a Dream’ – a collection of musical pieces inspired by fairy tale princesses. In addition to the Pittsburgh Philharmonic, other well-known troupes and companies, such as the Lula Washington Dance Theatre and Beatlemania Magic, will also perform at the college during the upcoming season.

The Philharmonic’s first concert of the season, at Butler County Community College, will feature such pieces as ‘Sleeping Beauty’ by Tchaikovsky and ‘Beauty and the Beast’ by Ravel. The concert is designed to be a family-friendly affair and parents are encouraged to bring their daughters dressed as their favorite princesses. In addition to classical pieces about princesses, concert-goers can anticipate appearances by popular animated princesses, including Ariel – the Little Mermaid – and Pocahontas.

The Pittsburgh Philharmonic continues its season at Butler County Community College with three more performances. This year’s theme is a ‘Storybook Season’ and the theme is evident in throughout the scheduled performances. In December, the orchestra will perform pieces from the Nutcracker and Sleighride at the college. In March, the Philharmonic will bring ‘Storybook Heroes’ to the college, with pieces from Hansel and Gretel and the Chronicles of Narnia. The orchestra closes its season with selections from Romeo and Juliet.

Flyer printing in Butler would be a great way for the college and the Pittsburgh Philharmonic to spread the word about the upcoming seasons, as well as about other performances taking place at the school’s Succop Theater. The flyers could include information on each performance, as well as advice on how to purchase tickets.
