Holiday activities served up by Butler
December 3, 2013 by Max
The holiday season is a busy time for many in the Butler area. This year, a selection of holiday themed plays, parades, and musical performances come to the area.
The Butler Little Theater will revive its production of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life – A Live Radio Play’, after Christmas. The theater will have three performances of the play, a stage adaptation of the film, on December 27, 28, and 29. It could use poster printing to advertise and spread the word about the revival.
This year’s production will feature the same cast as last year, and the theater will take reservations for the performances by phone from December 23 to the 27. Tickets are $10 each.
Sooner than that, on December 14, the Butler County Symphony Orchestra will have its annual holiday concert at Butler Intermediate High School. The performance will feature Elizabeth Matchett Freimuth, a member of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and a native of the area, on French horn. It will feature a number of popular holiday songs and can be enjoyed for $23, or $5.50 for students.
Several other holiday themed performances and events will take place throughout the area during December. Kennywood Holiday Lights at the amusement park in West Mifflin features a musical light show, as well as local choruses and carolers. Several of the park’s rides will be running during the light show, including the merry-go-round and kiddie rides.
Last but not least, Santa Claus will visit the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum on December 7, 8, 14, and 15 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm each day. Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for kids under the age of 15.
