February 8, 2012 by Sarah
The 2012 Three Rivers Quilt Show will take place at the IBEW Circuit Center on March 29. Tickets are $7 and this year’s theme is Irish Chain.
The Quilt Show is presented by the Three Rivers Quilters Guild and it is a judged show. This year’s judges for the show are Edie Richmond Dyke and Barbara Schafer; winners receive ribbons and cash prizes.
There will be over 130 quilts on display at the show. In addition, there will be quilting demonstrations and various vendors will be selling their wares. Granny’s Attic will be featuring on-sale merchandise and the Quilter’s Café will offer food and refreshments. There will also be draws for donated items from local businesses and a DVD of all the displayed quilts will be available for sale.
Quilting is a traditional art which seems to become more popular every day. While it used be our grandmothers who held quilting bees, many younger women (and men) are discovering that quilting is a great outlet for their artistic talents. Many quilters work from memory but many more of them follow a pattern. If you wish to design your own quilt and are not that well versed in how to create one, your local printing company would be more than welcome to help you with your pattern and will provide you with just what you need.
Quilting fans and quilters from all over the area, including from Butler will be marking their calendars so they don’t this event.
