Rumors swirl about new fast food restaurant in Broomall

July 12, 2012 by

The Arby’s on Sproul Road in Broomall, PA, sits empty. It may not stay that way for long, however, as a new fast food place, Freddy’s Steakburgers, is rumored to be interested in the building.

Freddy’s Steakburgers is a chain that is known for its hamburgers and frozen custard treats. If the restaurant were to open in Broomall, it would be the first Freddy’s Steakburgers in the state of Pennsylvania. Currently, there are Freddy’s in only 19 states, making it one of the smaller fast food chains.

It is still uncertain whether Freddy’s Steakburgers will actually take over the 2,800 square-foot building. Anthony Hamday, the manager for the township, believes that the company is still in talks with the owner of the property and the fast food chain has yet to submit an application. Hamday notes that the permit process would be rather simple, as the chain would only have to apply for a sign permit. The building is currently zoned for use as a fast food restaurant. Before it housed an Arby’s, it was the site of a Burger King.

Going by comments on Patch.com, reaction from Broomall residents about Freddy’s is mixed. Some residents had hoped that another fast food restaurant would take the place of the shuttered Arby’s, while others had hoped for a restaurant that would offer a healthy alternative.

If, and when, the new Freddy’s Steakburgers opens in Broomall, the company might consider banner printing. Large banners can announce the potential new restaurant’s presence to people driving by on the street.
