Visit Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem to embrace the Christmas spirit
December 3, 2011 by James
Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem will be held on Thursdays through Sundays until December 18 at the PNC Plaza. This yearly event is sponsored by Artsquest and is considered one of the “top holiday markets in the world.” Admission is $15 for a season’s pass or $8 for one day; Artsquest members and children under 12 are admitted free.
Christkindlmarkts, or Christmas markets, are held in many cities throughout the world, they began in the late Middle Ages in Germany. They feature handmade crafts and traditional Christmas fare. Traditionally they were held over Advent.
Local printing companies have most likely provided much of the decoration that you will see at Christkindlmarkt. Colorful and festive banners, posters and flyers can help to create excitement among the general public about such events for a very reasonable price to the organizers. They are also easy to take down when the event is over.
Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem will feature Christmas music provided by local choirs, food such as strudel, soup, BBQ, candy and pretzels, handmade arts and crafts, jewellery, pottery, wearable art, glass blowing, yarn, wreaths, fine art, photographs, wood crafts, skin care and much, much more. You are sure to find that last-minute Christmas gift for that hard-to-shop-for person there.
In addition to all the items for sale you can watch a demonstration of glass blowing of Christmas ornaments and decorations; you can even make your own ornaments. You can also take a horse-drawn carriage Christmas tour of Bethlehem. And of course, the kids can have a visit with Santa.
