Celebrate Mardi Gras in Bethlehem

Southside First Friday is a monthly celebration of the arts and culture of Bethlehem. Each month has a different theme; the theme for February is Mardi Gras. Shoppers in the Southside area can collect decorative festival beads at various stores in the area.

First Friday features art exhibits, buskers, musical entertainment, store sales, food and wine samples, special art shows and deals in many of the area restaurants. Most of the stores in the area will be featuring specials based on the monthly theme.

Those who already use flyer printing services in Bethlehem to market to their customers can inform them of their specials in their next direct mailing. They can offer further savings for those customers who bring in a copy of the flyer. This will draw people who might not have visited your store before or lately, and it will also allow you to gauge how effective your flyer campaign has been. Flyers are one of the most inexpensive ways of marketing your products or services to potential customers.

While the downtown of many smaller cities is dying a slow painful death due to large malls and “box” stores such as Costco, events such as First Friday are bringing people back into the downtown area. Citizens are sometimes not aware of the services offered by their downtown stores. If the prices are higher (they aren’t always) they are for products that are well-made, unique and locally produced. Shopping in your local downtown stores helps support more than the stores themselves; it provides stores with more money to hire people and it keeps the city alive and vibrant. Overall, independent stores and businesses are what make a community successful.
