Bethlehem businesses get in tune for Musikfest

The owners of the newly opened Steel Pub in Bethlehem had to hustle to get their doors open by Friday August 4. The new restaurant is one of many in the city taking advantage of increased business during the music festival.

The first week of August brings hustle and bustle to Bethlehem as the 10-day music festival Musikfest takes place. The yearly festival brings large crowds to the city and features 15 stages of music, 14 of which are free.

The large crowds translate into big business for restaurants and other service providers in Bethlehem. Foot traffic near the festival grounds helps increase business. Bethlehem restaurants can also take advantage of postcard printing to reach concert-goers. An employee from each restaurant could mill around the venues and distribute postcards to hungry and thirsty festival attendees.

Located just a few steps from the festival, the managers of the new Steel Pub did not want to wait until after Musikfest to open. The team had to scramble to get everything ready for a grand opening that coincided with the second day of the festival.

To celebrate its grand opening and the ongoing music festival, the Steel Pub is offering such specials as hotdogs and locally-produced bratwurst marinated in beer, with $5 beer mug refills and $3 specials on certain bottles also available. The Steel Pub is hoping for a repeat of the success experienced by neighboring restaurant the Wooden Match, which celebrated its grand opening on the first night of Musikfest 2011.
