Summer means outdoor concerts for Bala Cynwyd area

July 1, 2013 by

This summer, people in Bala Cynwyd will have the chance to catch a number of nearby outdoor concerts.

Several nearby townships are hosting summer concert series, with a different band or musician performing each week. Many of the concerts are free, though some charge an admission fee. People who decide to attend a concert are reminded to bring along a chair or blanket to sit on, plus bug spray and water to drink.

Wilson Farm Park in Chesterbrook will host a concert every Thursday night at 7:00 pm in the Shire Pavilion. The performance on July 4 will be from the Chester County Concert Band and will feature fireworks in honor of the holiday. The last concert of the season will take place on July 25 and features the band Common Bond. The concerts will be postponed in the event of rain.

The Delaware County Summer Festival will take place in Rose Tree Park, in Upper Providence until August 18. Concert organizers have made use of brochure printers to produce a full-color brochure listing the schedule for the nine-week festival. Performances take place five nights a week during the festival, with each concert starting at 7:30pm. Each concert is free of charge. If it rains, the performance for that day will be canceled and not rescheduled.

In Bryn Mawr, a Twilight Concert series will take place every Saturday evening until August 3. The concerts will be held rain or shine at the Ludington Library Gazebo. The suggested donation for the concerts is $12 for people over the age of 16. Children under 16 are admitted for free.
