Bala Cynwyd to play part in Philly Beer Week

An event taking place this week, Philly Beer Week is misnamed in a few ways. The event lasts for longer than a week, for a total of 10 days, and it is not limited to the city of Philadelphia either.

Beer Week events spread out into the suburbs, including near Bala Cynwyd and other towns on the Main Line. Several restaurants and bars in neighboring Montgomery county towns are holding events during the week.

Garrett Hill Ale House in Bryn Mawr will feature several beer-focused events during this week. On June 6, the Ale House is holding a ‘Naked 69 Stache Bash’. All patrons who show up at the restaurant with a moustache (even women) will receive their first beer on the house. People who can’t grow their own moustache might consider having a print company produce a paper version of a ‘stache that they can tape to their upper lip.

The beer in focus on June 6 at Garrett Hill Ale House will be from Prism Brewery. Representatives from the brewing company will have Summer of 69 (pineapple pilzale) and Naked Blonde (blonde ale) on offer.

Other restaurants in Montgomery County offering Beer Week events include The Greeks Next Door in Narberth and the aptly named The Beer Shoppe in Ardmore. On June 5, the Beer Shoppe will have a tasting of Long Tail beers from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The Greeks Next Door will hold a beer and cheese pairing class from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on June 6. Reservations are recommended for the class and the cost is $30.
