April brings plenty of opportunities for Bala Cynwyd runners

April 2, 2013 by

After a winter that was not too cold or grueling, runners in the Bala Cynwyd area will have the chance to show off their talents as race season gets underway, with plenty of options this month.

Many of the races are fundraisers for specific causes, while others are just for fun. An example of a race done purely for the fun of it is the Zombie Run, which will take place on April 7 in FDR Park in Philadelphia. Participants in the race can either register as a human for $45 or as a zombie for $25. The run starts at 8:00 am and is open to people of all ages.

The Narberth Cystic Fibrosis run, on the other hand, is an example of a run to raise money and is scheduled to take place on April 27 at 9:00 am. Late registration is $35. Along with the registration fee, each runner is being asked to raise $150 to support the Take a Breather Foundation. The run takes place in Narberth Park, which is located near Bala Cynwyd.

April 27 could be a very busy day for local stationery printers required to print promotional tags and paperwork, as the Spring into Fitness run in Phoenixville is also scheduled for the same day, as is the Chester County Race Against Violence in West Chester and Rick’s Run 5K in media.

The Spring into Fitness Run consists of two events – a Fun Walk (for which registrations costs $10) and a 5K run ($20). Both events take place at Phoenixville High School.
