Light show returns to Allentown for 18th year

Allentown residents and visitors are once able to enjoy a drive-through, holiday-themed light show.
Lights in the Parkway opened for the season on November 29 and ran throughout the Thanksgiving weekend. It reopens this Friday, December 6 and will be open will be open every evening from then until New Year’s Eve, from 5:30 pm until 10:00 pm.
As in previous years, visitors to the light show have the choice of driving through the exhibition in their cars or of reserving a horse-drawn buggy to take them through the show. The carriages are only available with a reservation and cost $15 per person. Admission to the light show is $10 per car.
The 18th annual show is more than a mile long, is made up of thousands of lights, and features animated holiday scenes as well as tunnels and music.
The organizers of the light show can use poster printing to advertise advance sales tickets, which are available at several area retailers, including Allentown City Hall and the Wegmans supermarket. Advance tickets are $8.
Along with enjoying the mile of illuminated displays, people will have the opportunity to shop for holiday presents at the Gift Barn. Refreshments such as hot chocolate will also be on offer at the end of the light show route. Santa Claus will also visit the Gift Barn Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, until December 24.
On December 4, the city of Allentown will sponsor a 5K race through the lighted display, beginning at 7:00 pm.
