The Town of North Hempstead has a number of fun events in the works for seniors in Williston Park and the surrounding area.

Thanks to the FunDay Monday program, seniors in the area will have the chance to get together for exercise, dancing, and other forms of entertainment on Mondays, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. This season’s program started on July 11 and takes place each Monday until August 29.

Local governments and community groups, such the Department of Community Services, which organizes the FunDays, can use mailing services to inform area seniors about the activities.

Along with special activities, such as a Health Fair held on July 25, the Hempstead Harbor Trail Walk on August 15, and HomeTown USA to honors veterans on August 29, FunDays will feature regularly occurring programs

A farmers’ market is held every Monday, starting at 12:30 pm. The market gives seniors the chance to buy locally grown produce and other locally produced foods.

FunDays will also feature a Books at the Beach discussion group twice during the summer. Registration for the book club is required and the books read will be chosen by residents.

From 11:30 am until 12:30 pm on Mondays, seniors will be invited to participate in a mindfulness coloring program. The goal of the program is to help people relax, become more focused, and improve their motor skills.
