Westbury nursery hosts Flower and Garden Show
March 13, 2013 by James
Hicks Nursery, in Westbury, is once again hosting the Flower and Garden Show, and there is no time to waste for those who want to get involved.
This year’s theme is ‘A World of Possibilities’ and gardens from around the world, including such locations as Ireland and China, will be on display throughout the week. The floral show will also feature a number of educational events, including workshops covering topics like herb gardening, building terrariums, and small space gardening.
The show will also play host to a number of events aimed at young children, all of which take place during the after-school hours. ‘Plant Detectives’ events are designed for kids between the ages of 7 and 12 and take place at 3:00 pm tomorrow and Friday. Free to attend, they are structured like a scavenger hunt and children will roam through the show with a worksheet, looking for specific plants and insects.
Another free event for children during the show will take place on March 16 and 17. Kids will be able to plant a sugar snap pea pod during the event. They will take the planted seed home to place in an outdoor garden after it sprouts.
Westbury flyer printing can help spread the word of the 23rd annual Flower and Garden Show. Since some events, such as the terrarium workshop, have a fee, flyers could provide information about the costs and let people know which events are free.
The show got started on March 8 and will continue until March 17.
