Elmont library hosts career-oriented workshops in August

Less than 10 miles away from Westbury, the Elmont Memorial Library will be holding a series of workshops that have been tailored towards helping job seekers. Interestingly enough, many of the concepts being put forward are applicable to businesses as well.
Things start off at a fairly brisk pace with ‘The Job Search: How to Find Your Dream Job’ on August 1. Covering topics like classified ads, networking, resume polishing, and posting online, it becomes clear that the content of this presentation is going to be very relevant to the needs of those looking for new work regardless of the reasons why. Taking place in the evening with a start time of 6:30 pm, this 90 minute presentation is undoubtedly going to be helpful.
Two weeks later on the 15th, the library will then be hosting ‘Interviewing and Negotiating Successfully’. Whether an individual is a job-seeker who has been called back or a freelancer following up an effective flyer printing campaign, there is no getting around the fact that negotiation and interview skills are valuable assets to have. Going in-depth into the fundamentals of using job searches to market, this is an excellent addition to what already projects to be an interesting series.
It all comes to a head on August 22 with ‘Marketing Yourself in a Tight Job Market’. This time discussing the importance of advertising and having a viable marketing plan, this workshop also looks very useful. Presented by a qualified individual in Constance Hallinan Lagan, the content of these presentations speaks for itself.
