Syosset delivers the goods

On November 13, a Fresh Market grocery store opened its doors to the public in Syosset for the first time.

The new supermarket, located in the Woodbury Commons, is the first Fresh Market store on Long Island. Encompassing more than 25,000 square feet, the store includes a bakery, meat counter, and produce department.

For meat options, customers will be able to choose from fresh seafood, beef ground in store, and a range of other cuts. The meat counter will also offer a range of ready-to-eat entrees and a choice of more than 200 cheeses, both domestic and imported.

Over in the produce section, customers will be able to choose from more than 400 different fruits and vegetables, and a sizable organic range. The bakery will offer 14 varieties of pie each day, as well as 30 types of fresh bread.

Along with providing shoppers with a new place to buy groceries, the Fresh Market has also created a number of jobs in the area. The store is expected to create 90 new positions and to fill most of those openings with people who live in the Syosset and Woodbury area. The supermarket could use printing companies to continue to advertise any open positions.

Plans are in the works for the grocery store to work with the Island Harvest Food Bank, to which the store’s management hopes to make regular donations.

The store is located at 8285 Jericho Turnpike as is open 9:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday through Saturday and from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Sundays.
