Syosset celebrates fall with festivals

Last weekend, the village of Syosset began a month long series of festivals celebrating the fall season.

The festivals continue during the last two weekends in October, with the 30th annual Oyster Festival taking place on October 19 and 20, and the Family Fall and Halloween Festival set for October 26.

The Oyster Festival will be held on the Oyster Bay waterfront. The yearly event is expected to attract large crowds from across Long Island and beyond. Nearly a quarter of a million people are expected to attend the festival over the course of two days. It offers free admission and will take place rain or shine.

Highlights of the Oyster Festival include a fireworks show at 7:00 pm on Saturday night, amusement rides, and a number of live musical performances on two stages. As befits a festival on the waterfront, there will be plenty of seafood options in the food court and boats for exploring on the wharf. The organizers of the festival can use brochure printers to highlight all that the two-day event has to offer.

Nearby Massapequa will host a fall festival on the last Saturday of October. The fifth annual event will feature hayrides, moon bounces, and a number of arts and crafts projects. Popular fall fare, such as popcorn and cider, will be on offer.

The Family Fall and Halloween Festival will take place at Marjorie R. Post Park from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Admission to the festival is free and it will be held regardless of weather.
