April 18, 2012 by Sarah
Smithtown residents and professionals have the option of going to the Suffolk Y Jewish Community Center in Commack for two informative workshops in “How to Network a Room” and “LinkedIn II” on April 19th.
Whether a recent graduate or an experienced administrator, a strong professional network could be the difference between a signed contract or an individual who is going to be “exploring other options”. Through networking fairs and meet-ups as well as dedicated groups, there will always be plenty of opportunities to meet new people and begin exploring different avenues.
In the interests of helping individuals make the most out of attending these events, the Community Center is hosting this 10:30 workshop on how successfully networking at these events can be turned into a science.
Almost immediately after “How to Network a Room” has concluded, presenters will be turning their attention towards a topic that relates to the Internet, social media platforms, and digital business cards : LinkedIn. This incredibly popular networking site combines the benefits of regular events with the convenience of the Internet.
While this is an invaluable resource for those who are interested in casting their nets online, navigating the site can be a problem for those who aren’t accustomed to using social media. During “LinkedIn II”, attendees will be walked through the fundamentals of finding jobs, recommendations, and groups, while also providing tips on the interview process.
Open to everyone and free to attend, this helpful series is sure to be of help to those who attend.
