Schenectady County SPCA leads in New Leash on Life 5K
September 27, 2012 by Mark
The Schenectady County SPCA is hosting a 5K race/walk this weekend at Blatnick Park. Dogs are welcome to race with their owners, although they must be on a leash and well-behaved, following the pack rules.
Registration for the event will take place at 8:00 am, with the race starting at 9:00 am. Upon completion, award medals will be given to the first male and female to finish the race, along with canine first finishers, and finishers in each age division.
The course will run along the Canalway Trail up to G. E. Research Headquarters and back. There is a hill approximately at the half way point that adds an exciting challenge, with the remaining part of the course being easy and relaxed.
The first 100 registrants will receive T-shirts. Water will be available at stations through the course. Runners and walkers will have access to bottled water and snacks at the completion of the race. Of course, dogs will have fresh water and treats, as well.
Many sponsors participate in this event, including Invisible Fence Brand, A Walk in the Park, Head-to-Tale Wellness Center, and Bombers Burrito Bar. Schenectady County SPCA is always interested in new sponsors and donations to assist with events and animal care.
Local printing companies frequently work with non-profit entities in assisting with print services for their events such as banner printing. Banners are normally used at race events to denote locations and convey information. They are highly visible and can attract attention quickly.
With the event starting at 8:00 am this Sunday, September 30, visit the Schenectady County SPCA website for more info.
