RVC seniors get ready for major fundraiser
April 7, 2013 by James
Rockville Centre is getting ready for one of its most important fundraising events of the year, with tickets for the Sandel Senior Center’s annual Monte Carlo Night going on sale recently.
Funds raised from the previous years’ popular events have been used for handicap-accessible transport and major refurbishments at the Senior Center. With all funds raised being ploughed directly into senior programs and services, it is hoped this year will again see plenty of cash donated.
To help, local print companies have worked to produce posters and other stationery for the night, and the tickets have already been printed. Priced at $60 per person, they can be bought from the Friends of Senior Services Inc. (FOSSI).
The night will see the Sandel Center being dressed as a sumptuous casino, complete with gaming tables, roulette wheels and professional croupiers. There will also be a dinner buffet and an open bar.
This year’s Monte Carlo Night will also honor Dr. Cyd Charrow. Known throughout Nassau County for her work, Dr. Charrow has been leading the RVC Senior Services for the best part of three decades.
Her work was seen as being key to the Sandel Center being awarded an accreditation by the National Council on Aging and the National Institute of Senior Centers in 2001. Then the first center in Long Island to receive such a designation, it was also just the 85th such award countrywide.
The night starts at 7.30 pm on Saturday, April 27. Any local businesses wanting to contribute to the event are urged to contact FOSSI.
