Baseball playing and commentating greats to attend fall party

As part of the Adelphi University’s Panther Club fall cocktail reception, baseball legend Ron Guidry will be interviewed by another baseball legend.

Many Rockville Centre folks will know Guidry’s name well, because the pitcher spent his full first class career at the Yankees. Twice winning the World Series with the team back in the 1970s, there will be many eager to hear what he has to say about his life in a local event this fall.

This time though, it is a talent with the voice rather than the arm that is on show, as Ron Guidry is asked questions about his career by former ESPN sports anchor man Ed Randall.

The interview, which will no doubt talk about his 1.74 run average in 1978 that saw him go a near record 25-3 for the season, will take place on the Panther Stage. Plans are sure to be in store for the banner printing which will decorate the stage to celebrate such a momentous event.

Randall will certainly be hoping to make it memorable, as he welcomes many of his listeners from his Sunday morning program, ‘Talking Baseball’, into the show.

As the Adelphi University program to provide direct support for athletics, the Panther Club is key to promoting sport for men and women.

An annual event put on by the club, this year’s cocktail reception will take place at Chateau Briand in Carle Place, Long Island on Thursday, October 24.
