Greece lighting up the weekend in Rochester

August 20, 2013 by

On its way later this week, the Greek Festival is all about the culture, foods, music, dancing, and hospitality offered in the Adriatic nation of Greece, and provides all families with the opportunity to learn more about the Greek way of life or to celebrate being Greek.

This festival is open to everyone, no matter what their ages, and printing services are likely to have been used to spread the word about this festival event to people in this community and the surrounding districts.

Attendees may enjoy a number of musical and dance performances from groups such as the Holy Spirit Youth Dancers, plus there are also instructional classes on Greek dancing each day. There will be traditional Greek music, as well a boutique filled with items related to the culture and lifestyle of the country. Traditional Greek food can be tasted as well.

Bands appearing at this festival include the Aegean Duo, and the Aegean Greek Band. For people interested in learning about the church, tours and lectures will be available throughout the festival, but are optional. Raffle tickets will be for sale as well.

Admission is free, although some items must be purchased. The Greek Festival will be taking place from Thursday, August 22 to Sunday, August 25 starting at various times at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit located at 835 South Avenue in Rochester, New York. To learn more about the festival, or the schedule of events, please visit the High and Greek Fest website or call 585-244-1976 during business hours.
