A wholesale produce distribution and supply firm has celebrated the opening of its brand new headquarters. Located in Port Washington, it is hoped the new office will soon start taking on new staff from the local area.

R Best Produce Inc. hosted a ceremony complete with banner printing on show to celebrate the opening of its new corporate HQ. The firm has moved from Hunts Point Market, its home for more than 30 years, to Nassau County.

R Best, which supplies and distributes fruits and vegetables to many of the country’s independent supermarkets, was not able to extend its previous lease.

The move is a major win for the economic development team of the county. The chairman and COO of the firm, Philip Delprete, said,

“I want to thank county executive Ed Mangano help in making this happen. We’re happy to be here. There’s not a better place for a business to be than on the Gold Coast. This is a much better environment than what we were in and its location will help us to attract high-quality employees.”

It seem more than 50 jobs move to the county, with the firm saying it will create more than 10 new positions as soon as possible.

The new facility is also home to a new, state-of-the-art, 70,000 square foot warehouse.

Able to maintain different climatic environments across a number of zones, R-Best can optimize the conditions for each product, allowing foodstuffs to arrive to its customers, and the consumer, in the best possible condition for purchase.
