If the flyer printing that’s likely making the rounds is anything to go by, Port Washington residents have a great opportunity to take advantage of this excellent weather and raise some funds for a good cause in the Helen Keller National Center by participating in Helen’s Walk 2012.

Taking place April 29th with an official start time of 8:00 am, those hoping to be a part of Helen’s Walk 2012 are going to have to do so a little bit sooner than in other years. After registration, participants are being asked to arrive at Sands Point Preserve where they’ll follow a set route and walk to the Helen Keller National Center where the finish line is going to be. As a way of saying “thank you” to those who are going to be walking, the Center will also be offering drinks and food to people.

While walking is definitely one way to be a part of Helen’s Walk, the Helen Keller National Center is also allowing local businesses to get involved by offering sponsorship opportunities for this one.

Dedicated to the cause of individuals who are deaf-blind, the appropriately named Helen Keller National Center offers support to people of all ages through a combination of compassion and a series of practical services. Featuring programs that are tailored towards the needs of individuals in stages of life that include seniors as well as youth, the center does what it can for people with the help of its many partners.

Whether sponsoring or walking, don’t hesitate to sign up for this one.
