Concert series to rock Port Jefferson Station
June 26, 2012 by Sarah
This Thursday, June 28, the Annual Summer Harborside Concert Series will begin at Memorial Park, across from the Village Hall, in Port Jefferson Station , New York. This evening concert begins at 8:00 pm.
This week’s concert features the School of Rock Band, who perform numbers featured in the film “School Of Rock,” starring Jack Black. In the movie, Black plays Dewey Finn, a wannabe rocker who is kicked out of his own band for not taking things seriously enough. After his dismissal, he starts seeking out new band members to form a new group to compete in a “Battle of the Bands” competition. Needing to pay his rent, he deludes everyone and accepts a teaching position. Filling in as a substitute, he realizes that his class students are very talented and forms a school band, who were soon competing in the “Battle of the Bands.”
The songs by the School of Rock Group focus on rock music, with” School of Rock” being their lead-in song. Some other well-known songs featured in the film, or performed by Black elsewhere, include It’s a Long Way to the Top, Karate, Let’s Get it Out, The Pusher, Tribute, and You’re Not Hardcore. Flyer printing and poster printing may have been used to advertise this concert series to the public. This is an outdoor event, so guests are reminded to dress appropriately and bring sweaters, as the evenings can be cool.
