A Holiday Tour on the way this weekend
December 5, 2012 by Mark
Christmas with the Gardiner-Thompson Family is scheduled for December 8 – 9, beginning at 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. The event is presented by the Sagtikos Manor Historical Society, with this year’s celebration taking visitors back to the late 1700s with a journey leading right through to the 1950s. Touring guests will relive Christmases past as expert docents reveal the fascinating stories.
The Sagtikos Manor is located on Montauk Highway and Manor Lane in Bay Shore, a neighboring community to Plainview. It was built in 1697 with expansion in 1772 and 1902. It served as a headquarters estate for the British Army on Long Island during Revolutionary War times. It is reputed that George Washington actually stayed there in 1790.
The manor contains original furnishing with family pieces and accessories. The architectural styles date back to the 1600s. The manor is currently decorated for the holidays and will offer holiday items for sale in the gift shop, along with seasonal green items made by The Friends of the Manor Gardens.
Often, historical societies will utilize printing companies to create marketing and informational materials about designated sites and attractions. Using brochure printers is an effective method to include in a marketing plan. Brochures typically have six panels utilizing a tri-fold layout giving a decent amount of space for text and images and can be kept on location or distributed through various sources.
Hot beverage and cookie bags will be waiting at the conclusion of the tour. The tours take place every 15 minutes. For more information, visit the event website or call 631-661-5169.
