New winter location announced for New Rochelle grand market
November 5, 2013 by Mark
The New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District recently announced that its Downtown Grand Market will be held indoors so as to be able to continue through the winter and early spring. No doubt the District is using flyer printing and poster printing to let the community know of this very popular event.
The Winter Grand Market will be in the New Rochelle Public Library in the Meeting Room adjacent to the Ossie Davis Theater. It is adjacent to the Library Green at which the Grand Market is held outdoors during the summer and fall months.
As of this month, the market is now taking place on the first Saturdays of the month right through until May. Starting on Saturday, May 31, the Grand Market will return outdoors.
Featured at the Grand Market will be local farm fruit and produce, baked goods and treats, organic meats and eggs, mozzarella cheese and sandwiches, maple syrup and honeys, and other specialty foods and products from artisans. There will also be Backstreet Gallery, which is a popular spot for purchasing, displaying, and framing art.
According to Bo Kemp of Urban Fresh Food Markets, the Grand Market has been so popular that both vendors and shoppers asked it to be continued during the winter. The additional help of the New Rochelle Public Library has made it possible to be held indoors on the first Saturday of each month.
Sponsors of the Winter Grand Market are Monroe College, the New Rochelle Downtown Improvement District, and Green Mountain Energy.
