New Rochelle area sees opening of Polpettina

January 12, 2014 by

Owners Kyle Inserra and Joe Lodi, along with executive chef Michael Abrusese, recently opened a new Polpettina restaurant in Larchmont, just north of New Rochelle. The Eastchester location has been a favorite dining spot since early 2011 and the owners and executive chef have most likely been using flyer printing to spread the word about their new restaurant to current customers and others in the Larchmont community.

The new Polpettina is located at 147 Larchmont Avenue and is somewhat larger than its Eastchester counterpart, with seating for 50 people.

According to public relations manager for the restaurant, Kate Sheehan, the interior of the space is very intimate with a brick wall that had been previously unexposed and is paneled with reclaimed wood from old barns. The tabletops are custom milled by hand from re-purposed wood in Pennsylvania.

Polpettina means ‘little meatball’ in Italian. Featured on the menu are the same dishes as at the Eastchester location with a full bar of standard drinks and special cocktails of the pre-Prohibition era. There is also a $10 tasting of selections of beef, pork, and chicken meatballs. Other items include Bolognese and truffled carbonara pasta dishes and pizza.

Sheehan added that the menu items are seasonal in nature as the restaurant uses locally sourced organic produce and other food items. In addition, the restaurant prides itself on being eco-friendly in its use of cleaning products, recycled paper, and compostable plastic.

Polpettina is open for lunch and dinner every day of the week with extended hours for dinner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
