Greater Nanuet Chamber of Commerce celebrates first anniversary

In celebration of its first anniversary, the Greater Nanuet Chamber of Commerce will be holding a celebration dinner to salute its founding members next week.

No doubt the Chamber is using flyer printing to let all its members and non-members in the community become aware of the event so as to attract as many people as possible. Three lucky members who register in advance will be offered the chance to make a three-minute presentation about their business.

The Chamber currently has 78 members and plans to create two scholarships beginning with the 2014 graduating class for Nanuet High School seniors. Plans to provide additional information are in the pipeline and the Chamber will accept applications beginning in February.

The Chamber has set some goals plans to achieve for the next 12 months; it wants to hold a joint business networking event and a Main Street Fair and host a variety of cultural and health-related activities and events. It also intends to work with the town of Clarkstown to rezone the downtown area and improve and beautify Main Street in conjunction with the opening of The Shops at Nanuet in October, and will continue its work on the study to relocate the train station to the new mall, helping to bring more people into the area for shopping.

Events for the fall planned by the Chamber include a Halloween parade and an event featuring area restaurants in October, a business expo in November, and a holiday party in December. This upcoming event will take place on Tuesday September 10, from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
