Barnes and Noble to host popular children’s author
April 7, 2014 by Mark
Artie Bennett, an acclaimed author of books for children will be at the Barnes and Noble store in Nanuet next week to sign, discuss, and read from his new book ‘Peter Panda Melts Down!’. No doubt the store is using services like poster printing throughout the store and elsewhere to make families with young children aware of this special event.
Bennett grew up in Brooklyn, New York and earned a degree in journalism at the University of Georgia. After graduation, he worked for the Athens Banner-Herald for seven years before moving to a kibbutz in Galilea. A year later, he returned to the United States, held a variety of jobs, and then found his calling in the world.
He had always been fascinated with language and collects colorful and interesting words in the English language. Sources suggest that, before he was a teenager, he tried to construct crosswords and submitted one to the New York Times when he was about 13 years old, and was paid $15 for it. He continued to write puzzles for the daily edition of the paper, as well as the Sunday edition.
He is now the executive copy editor for a publisher of children’s books, and has written ‘Poopendous!’ and ‘The Butt Book’.
The event will begin at 4:30 pm next Wednesday, April 16.
