The Committee on Attorney Professionalism of the Bar Association of New York State recently gave John S. Marwell, an attorney from Mt. Kisco, the Attorney Professionalism Award for 2014.

No doubt the committee turned to a variety of printing services to announce to the legal community that Marwell is the recipient of the award, which is given to an attorney who is committed to promoting respect for the legal system, displays the highest standards of professionalism and has exceptional competence, ethical conduct, good judgment, civility and integrity.

According to the chairman of the committee, Marion Hancock Fish of Hancock Estabrook in Syracuse, in the 40 years that Marwell has been practicing the law, he has always been dedicated to his clients and been a leader and pillar of the legal profession. Marwell’s nomination was supported by clients, colleagues and adversaries, praising his sound advice, exemplary legal practice and civility.

A partner at the law firm of Shamberg Marwell Hollis Andreycak & Laidlaw, Marwell specializes in environmental and real estate law, land use litigation and zoning. He was a vice president of the Ninth Judicial District and member of the House of Delegates within the State Bar Association from 2007 to 2011. He is also a past president of the Westchester County Bar Foundation and the Westchester County Bar Association.

Mr Marwell earned his law degree from Columbia School.
