Start your holiday shopping in Merrick

September 23, 2012 by

The Community Presbyterian Church’s annual bazaar and fair will take place at the church this October. Admission is free and proceeds go to supporting Long Island Cares emergency food pantry program.

There will be all sorts of items for sale, some of which are gently-used. It will be a good opportunity to get the jump on holiday shopping. Items featured for sale will include crafts, jewelry, homemade quilts, baked goods, Halloween and Christmas decorations, and other items suitable for gift-giving. The North Shore Animal League will have a booth set up to collect donations.

It is likely that the organizers of the bazaar will be availing themselves of services such as flyer printing and banner printing from Merrick printing companies. Flyers are very inexpensive and help spread the word about upcoming events quickly and easily. To save more money, the flyers can be delivered door-to-door throughout the community by volunteers.

Long Island Cares is a food bank that was founded by the late Harry Chapin. In addition to providing emergency food to various food pantries, it also provides hunger education, job training, and outreach vans.

The North Shore Animal League is dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats and to rehousing them in loving homes, with it being a no-kill shelter. The fair will take place on Friday, October 12 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm and on Saturday, October 13 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Coffee and refreshments will be served and lunch will be available on the Saturday. For more information, call 516-378-7761.
