Rocking the river in East Rockaway
April 16, 2013 by Mark
Festival fans are invited to come on down for a rocking time at the Annual Rolling River Rock-the-River Spring Festival this weekend.
Local Luxuries, the monthly periodical that highlights distinctive merchants and services, sponsors this fundraiser. The family-oriented spring festival includes carnival rides, music and dancing, playgrounds, games, pony rides, a crafts and trader fair, tumbling facility, face painting, sponsor freebies, and arts and crafts.
All proceeds are used to advance The Campmates Program, which is Rolling River’s camp scholarship fund. The Campmates Program provides free summer camp admission to local children associated with The Peninsula Counseling Center—Long Island’s foremost mental health and counseling center.
Admission is free to access the campgrounds. Snacks, arts, and crafts are offered for purchase. Tickets for carnival and pony rides are $3 apiece and an unlimited ride wristband is available for $10.
In all respects, Local Luxuries is a most affordable vessel made available to the public. As a small, South-Shore headquartered establishment, it publishes a monthly, full-color publication (perhaps with the help of local brochure printers) that calls attention to the fine businesses within the communities of East Rockaway, Merrick, and other nearby towns. Its objective is to support the community and its residents by embracing the chance to help them achieve their business goals.
The spring festivities begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 20, and take place at The Rolling River Day Camp located at 477 Ocean Avenue in East Rockaway—about seven miles from Merrick.
