Merrick weekend to see kick-start of festive events

December 4, 2013 by

The area surrounding Merrick is filled with seasonal events, and most likely flyer printing and poster printing are being used to announce them in the community.

Starting this Saturday, December 7, the Indoor Winter Farmers’ Market will be returning to the American Legion Post in Baldwin during the morning hours every Saturday. Featured goods will include cheese, pickles, breads, and seafood from local vendors, as well as craft beer, barbeque sauces, nut butters, pies, sweet and savory tarts, and hand-made soups.

Also on Saturday, there will be a Holiday Boutique at the First Presbyterian Church in Levittown.

On both Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, December 8, Dees Nursery and Florist will have Santa Claus visiting their shop for kids to share their Christmas wishes and have their pictures taken with Jolly Ol’ St. Nick. During the holiday season, Dees is filled with Christmas and holiday décor from around the world and sells live Christmas trees and wreaths.

Lastly, this Sunday, the Kiwanis Club of patchogue will be holding a Santa 5J Toy Trot that will run along the shores of the Great South Bay in Patchogue. The route is USA Track and Field Certified, will begin and end at Shorefront Park, and is professionally timed by Island Timing. Proceeds from the run will go to the non-profit Kiwanis Foundation, which is dedicated to helping underserved children around the world. This particular event will enable the Foundation to purchase Christmas toys for needy children.
