Merrick area to see swarm of shops

One of several shops opening in the area later this month will be Danny’ Chinese Kitchen on Merrick Road in Bellmore, just outside of Merrick. No doubt the owner, Danny Antin, is using poster printing and flyer printing to let the community know that his restaurant will be opening just before Thanksgiving.

Antin’s restaurant will be serving fresh Chinese food, which he feels is very much needed in the area. Talking to Merrick’s Patch.com site, he added that this is a growing area and he is looking forward to being of service to the community.

Also opening on Merrick Road around the Thanksgiving holiday is Chocolate Works, an emporium of chocolate and other confectioneries. Donna Stein, a resident of Merrick for 30 years, and her business partner, Rachel Levenberg, thought that opening a confectionery shop would bring a bit of sunshine and joy to the community.

Among the items that will be sold in the shop will be authentic Belgian chocolates, party favors, gift items, platters, and baskets. The Chocolate Works will also hold workshops on various topics related to sweets and will be able to host parties for both children and adults.

According to Stein, their space is very attractive and will have something to delight every customer. She added that they are both very excited to be coming into the community and it seems that the community is equally excited to see the shop open.

Also opening in the vicinity will be a Panera Bread, although no firm date for the opening has been set. According to Mandy Burns, the Marketing Manager, only a lease has been signed for its location.
