Family First Home Companions recently announced that it has opened a satellite location in Melville.

Jennifer Benjamin, president and owner of the company, which provides professional and personalized assistance to seniors at home, commented that this new office will enable to agency to provide their services to a greater number of communities that require care for seniors. Such businesspeople often seek the help of brochure printers to mail material to potential clients who may be in need of its services.

Along with the new office, Family First Home Companions has launched a new rehabilitation service, which helps patients who have just been discharged from a nursing home or the hospital. This new level of assistance, called ‘Home in a Hurry’, can be important in transitioning seniors back into their home in a safe and efficient manner. According to Benjamin, the first few days that a senior has returned to their home can be the most difficult and this program helps to ensure they do not return to the nursing home or hospital.

In the program, the professional caregiver is at the home for two days for five hours a day. The caregiver takes care of household chores, carries out the grocery shopping, picks up prescriptions, assists with discharge instructions, and provides transportation to doctor appointments. The caregiver also evaluates the home for potential safety hazards and makes recommendations so that the home can better provide for the well-being of the patient.
