Yonkers says Yes Virginia this week

This Thursday evening, December 13, Rising Stars will be putting on their production of Macy’s ‘Yes Virginia, The Musical’ at the Riverfront Library in Yonkers, New York.

The play is about a young girl named Virginia who is trying to find out if Santa Claus exists. To find the answer to her question, she writes to Francis Church, the editor of the New York Sun, asking him his thoughts. At first Church is unmoved, thinking that he has better things to do with his time than answer that question. However, Virginia and her friends eventually push him to respond and write a famous newspaper editorial that answers her question.

Rising Stars is a company that offers acting, dance, and musical theater lessons for children. It believes that a theater education is very important for kids, and that it helps them to be more well-rounded people. It also believes that theater productions are important within a community because they can help an area economically.

The first showing will be at 6:00 pm this Thursday, and there will then be further performances starting on Friday, December 21, and running throughout that weekend in December. Tickets are $16 for adults and $8 for children.

Rising Stars may very well turn to print companies to create flyers to promote this show. The actors in this production will likely want to hand out flyers to their school friends, and the company may want to have flyers or posters up in the schools of nearby areas, like Mt. Vernon or Mamaroneck.
