ThrillerFest comes to New York City

July 10, 2012 by

Starting tomorrow, New York City will play host to the International Thriller Writers’ seventh annual ThrillerFest. The event will run from July 11 – 14 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in midtown Manhattan. Participants will learn about the craft of writing thrillers and have the opportunity to meet some of the most famous authors of the genre.

The conference will open with CraftFest on the first day, during which attendees will learn how to sharpen their writing skills and be taught tricks of the trade by a number of the best authors in the business, including Heather Graham, Kathleen Antrim, Lisa Gardner, and Peter James. The following day is AgentFest, where the attendees will take their newly learned skills and try to pitch their stories to a number of literary agents who will be in attendance.

On Friday the event kicks into full gear with ThrillerFest beginning in earnest. Jack Higgins will be the ThrillMaster for the event, and guests such as John Sandford, Lee Child, and Catherine Coulter will be on hand as well. The event concludes on Saturday evening at the ITW Thriller Awards Banquet. Author Richard North Patterson is set to receive the Silver Bullet Award this year and Ann Rule will be awarded the True Chill Award. Former winners R.L. Stein and Karin Slaughter will also be present.

Printing companies are sure to be hard at work creating pamphlets and brochures to provide information for those who are attending the event. They will also need to create promotional flyers to draw in attendees from New York City, as well as surrounding areas like Long Island City .
