Running boots at the ready for Cupid Chase
February 3, 2013 by James
Community Options, Inc. (COI) will be hosting its annual Cupid’s Chase 5K run next weekend. The event takes place in 21 cities in eight different states all on the same day.
COI is a non-profit organization that provides employment support and housing for those with disabilities. All funds from the race will go towards supporting COI’s programs.
This year, the race is particularly important due to Hurricane Sandy. COI employees had to work overtime to help those with disabilities move out of the path of the storm and to find relocation areas for them. COI hopes to return to the funding state it was at prior to the storm with this year’s 5K races.
Those who are in upstate New York can participate in the run at Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool, New York. It should also be said that not just runners are invited. Anyone who wants to jog, walk, or “roll” the course with baby strollers or wheelchairs is welcome as well. People who wish to participate are encouraged to register ahead of time, as the registration fee will increase for those who register the on the day. On-site registration begins at 8:00 am – two hours before the start of the race.
Set to take place on Saturday, February 9, it is possible that the organizers for the race will turn to print companies to help get the word out and draw in even greater crowds. In sounds like this year, especially, COI could use a strong turnout. Print companies may be asked to create flyers for advertising. They could also be asked to create informational brochures to keep any attendees informed of COI projects and upcoming fundraisers.
