Books and DVDs galore in Liverpool
October 13, 2012 by Mark
Beginning on Friday, October 19, WCNY Studios will be hosting a series of Used Book and DVD Sales in Liverpool, New York, in order to raise funds for its program ‘Read Out’.
WCNY is a public broadcasting station for Central New York. It is a member-supported organization that seeks to produce innovative television and radio programs focused on education, the arts, public affairs, and a deeper appreciation of diversity.
Read Out is a radio program run by WCNY. The Syracuse Post-Standard, Central New York’s local newspaper, is read aloud every day. The program’s connections to the Radio Talking Book Network also allows for the reading of articles from such publications as the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, National Geographic, and the New Yorker.
The sales begin at 506 Old Liverpool Road at 6:00 pm on October 19 and run until 8:00 pm. There is a $5 early bird special admissions fee for the first day. The following day, the event runs from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, with books being sold at full price. Sunday, October 21 features books on sale for full price from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. The next two days run sales from noon until 8:00 pm, with books at half price, and the final two days run again from noon until 8:00 pm, with bag sales being in effect.
There is little doubt that local print companies will be needed to create flyers to draw in crowds to the sale to ensure that it is profitable and that Read Out can continue to be funded.
