Reel in the weekend

This coming Saturday, July 14, the St. Regis Knights of Columbus will be holding the Fifth Annual Fluke Rodeo at the MarineMax Marina in Lindenhurst, New York. The rodeo benefits the Special Olympics and Send A Kid Fishing.

The event begins at 7:00 am with attendees going out to fish until 4:00 pm. Weigh-ins for catches take place from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm that same afternoon at the marina. The fishermen with the best catches will be awarded cash and tackle prizes. All participants will also receive a goodie bag and T-shirt for competing. The event is $20 to enter for adults and $15 for anyone of aged 15 or under. There will also be a Calcutta pool for those who wish to enter at $50 per boat.

Following the fishing competition, there will be a barbecue dinner on the docks that will run from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Fundraisers, raffles, and a Chinese auction will also take place during that time. Those who participate in the fishing competition will get in for free, while those who only want to attend the barbecue can do so for $10.

Interested parties can sign up at several fishing stores in the areas, the full details of which can be found on Lindenhurst’s site. There is little doubt that printing companies will be creating informational brochures and flyers for each of these places to hand out to potentially interested customers. They will also probably be creating flyers to generate awareness about the event and the causes it is supporting.
