Holiday Tours offered at the Sagtikos Manor

December 1, 2012 by

Over the weekend of December 8, the Sagtikos Manor in Bay Shore, Long Island will be open for two special days of holiday tours. The tour will cover the first floor of the mansion, and the museum’s expert guides will tell stories about what Christmas was like in the mansion for the Gardiner-Thompson family from as far back as 1777 and up until the 1950s.

Following the tour, guests will be treated to a hot beverage and a cookie bag. They are also welcome to peruse the gift shop, which will be stocked with holiday-themed items. The Friends of the Manor Garden will also be selling wreaths and other handmade holiday decorations.

The tours begin at 11 in the morning on both the Saturday and Sunday, and the last tour leaves at 3 in the afternoon. Tours are every 15 minutes and accommodate 15 guests. It is suggested that those who are interested reserve spots ahead of time, which they must do by today, December 1. The price of admission is $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, and $5 for children. Advanced payments must be made by mail and postmarked by today. Those buying at the door will have to pay $25 for entry, though children will still be allowed in at the $5 fee.

It is likely that organizers will be hiring print companies to create flyers and promotional materials for this event in order to make sure that residents of Bay Shore, not forgetting nearby areas like Islip, Brentwood, and Lindenhurst, are aware of it.
