Holbrook auction to make a sporty stand

April 8, 2013 by

The Knights of Columbus 8607 will soon be hosting a sports memorabilia auction to help and fund its programs. With over 75 lots featuring such collectables as apparel, graded cards, photographs, and autographed items, it looks like one for sports fans not to miss.

Arguably the most attractive lot is a basketball signed by former L.A. Laker star Magic Johnson, although hockey pucks, footballs, and baseballs carrying famous signatures are sure to attract some healthy bids as well.

The Knights of Columbus are a charitable organization that was founded by Father Michael J. McGivney in Connecticut in 1882. It is committed to helping others through efforts in public relief and war relief works, as well as social, educational, and charitable welfare.

Organizers from the Knights of Columbus are likely to seek out printing companies to create flyers and posters to promote this event in Holbrook and other nearby areas. Places like Islip, Commack, and Lindenhurst are all within driving distance, and people in these towns might be interested in helping out a charitable organization or getting their hands on some unique sports paraphernalia.

The event is being held at the Good Shepherd RC Church Fellowship Hall in Holbrook, New York on Friday, April 19. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the auction will begin at 7:00 pm. There is a $5 admission fee that includes door prizes. Guests must be over 18 years of age to bid on items, and please note that credit cards are not accepted for bids.
