July ends with music festival

On the weekend of July 27, the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival will be taking place at Dodds Farm, near Hillsdale, New York. The festival is a three-day event, featuring some of the best performers in folk music and dance.

There are four stages at the festival. The main stage will feature the most prominent acts as well as the Emerging Artist Showcase. The workshop stage is a smaller setting more appropriate for intimate performances. The dance stage is an 8,000 square-foot space that will allow people to dance late into the night. Finally, the family stage will house child-friendly workshops and activities.

Some of the artists who will perform at the event include Brother Sun, George Marshall, Patti O’Brien Melita, Spuyten Duyvil, Ralph Sweet, and Tracy Grammer. Artists Ellis, Holly Near, Rod McDonald, and John Flynn will be participating in the Friday Summer’s Eve Song Swap. Audience members will also be able to vote for their favorite artists following the festival. The winners from last year’s showcase, who were Pesky J. Nixon, Louise Mosrie, ilyAIMY, and Blair Bodine, will be performing in the Most Wanted Song Swamp on the main stage.

Food and craft vendors will also be on hand to sell their wares and keep attendees well-nourished. Printing companies may need to print banners for the different vendors and possibly for the performing bands. They might also be called upon to produce promotional material to attract audiences to the event. Places like New Paltz, Poughkeepsie, and Hyde Park are within a reasonable driving distance and this festival would provide a great weekend getaway.
